Lagos sets up zero-tolerance Task Force on illegal masts
On Wednesday, Lagos State government revealed that it has constituted a Zero-Tolerance Task Force to examine the length and breadth of Lagos Island and identify all illegal and non-compliant rooftop masts or those that could compromise the structural integrity of buildings on which they were installed through the State’s Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA).
General Manager of LASIMRA, Mr. Babajide Odekunle in a release made available to newsmen revealed this explaining that the move was a fall out from the collapsed building with an illegal and unapproved roof-top Mast on Massey Street, Lagos Island last week.
Odekunle said the exercise became highly imperative in order to protect lives and property of Lagosians, affirming that any non-compliant rooftop mast and those erected on perceived defective buildings with suspicious structural integrity would be de-rigged, while appropriate Government Agency would take further action on identified defective buildings.
The LASIMRA manager reiterated the commitment of the present administration to ensuring the safety of lives and property of all residents of the state.
