Valverde demands more new players

In an effort to make his team “better and more competitive,” Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde, has demanded more signings before the transfer window closes.

The La Liga side made two wins in La Liga on Saturday, with a 2-0 victory over Deportivo Alaves.

After the break, Lionel Messi scored twice having missed a first-half penalty.

Barca’s new midfielder, Paulinho, made his debut in a week that saw the club confirm the club-record signing of Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund for an initial fee of €105 million.

The Catalans are believed to be enthusiastic on signing Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool and are also reportedly interested in Chelsea’s Willian.

“We hope to have a better team on the 31st,” Valverde told Barca TV.

“We hope that, when the last day of the market comes, we have a better and more competitive team. That’s clear.”
