In china, smartphones vendors reduced the price of their Apple’s iPhone 8 has a way to lure customers to buy the smartphone because of the low demand ahead of the much-anticipated iPhone X by the tech giant on Friday.
The new Apple’s iPhone 8 plus and the regular iPhone 8 models can be snapped at a discount for as low as 14% to 20% in the area mainland China, where iPhones can be known to change hands between four or more customers.
According to Canalys research firm the move comes as data shows Apple’s China smartphone shipment sold about 11 million units which is 40% increase for the quarter, marking Apple’s iPhone the best performing US company in China in eight quarters.
Why many analysts, wonder how long this can be sustained by the giant Apple’s company.
According to Canalys analyst Mo Jia, “Apple’s growth this quarter is only temporary. The high sell-in caters to the pent-up demand of iPhone upgraders in the absence of the iPhone X,”
“Price cuts on earlier models after announcing the iPhone 8 have also helped. However, Apple is unlikely to sustain this growth in Q4.”
Meanwhile Apple company in China didn’t immediately respond to request for comment.
Regular model of 64GB Apple’s iPhone 8 can be order by customers for $722.61 (CNY 4,788) and the more expensive model of 256GB iPhone 8 plus cost $1,039.54 (CNY 6,888) from China’s top home appliance Suning Commerce Group of company Ltd. This is a big price reduction for its original price tags of CNY 5,888 and CNY 7,988, respectively.
Hundreds of thousands of the Apple’s smartphones have be smuggled for the mainland China in recent years, where this has fetched the smugglers as much as four times the price in Hong Kong.
