The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has insisted that there was no fuel shortage as long lines formed at petrol stations Tuesday.
Maikanti Baru. NNPC group managing director, who returned early from a trip to London to manage the situation, called for an end to panic buying.
“For the umpteenth time, I wish to call on all Nigerians to stop panic buying. We have said times without number that NNPC has sufficient products to cater for the needs of all consumers,” Baru said.
In a statement Monday, NNPC denied rumours of an upcoming price hike, which it said had led to the rise in demand. The company said its downstream subsidiary companies the Petroleum Products Marketing Company and NNPC Retail had sufficient resources to supply the country.
